Community Resources
Community Partners
At Wildly Inclusive Learning Collective (WILC), community partnerships are central to our work of building inclusive, affirming support for learners, educators, and providers nationwide. Community partners are organizations or businesses that collaborate with WILC to expand access to inclusive education, supportive services, therapies, and community resources. Through these collaborations, we strengthen our ability to serve underserved learners, particularly LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and neurodivergent youth, while fostering a more connected, resilient, and supportive community for all.
How to Contribute

Community partners play a vital role in helping WILC network to provide transformative experiences and support throughout the community to those who need it most. It is with the support of our community partners that we can all facilitate the greatest change.

How We’re Creating the WILC Network
Below are some of the ways we want our Community Partners program to reach the community.
Creating Holistic Support Networks
-
Family Support Services: Offering safe, affirming, and inclusive care to the community.
-
Training and Tools for Educators: Assist WILC in equipping teachers with resources and strategies to create affirming classrooms, both in traditional and alternative educational settings.
-
Referrals and Networking: Help build a web of support by connecting families to additional affirming services.
Shared Resources and Expertise
-
Educational Workshops: Hosting or partnering with local organizations to host workshops for educators, families, and students on topics like inclusive teaching practices, neurodiversity, and intersectionality.
-
Referrals: Collaborating with like minded healthcare professionals and organizations to connect families with LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and Neurodivergent affirming therapy, health care, and emotional support resources.
Advocacy and Outreach
-
Amplifying Voices: Work towards making our marginalized community members feel seen and heard.
-
Awareness Campaigns: Raising awareness about community events like the Durham German Market to showcase our mission while creating connections among diverse populations.
-
Advocate for marginalized community members through your business services.
-
Mentorship Programs: Connecting WI-ALC learners with mentors in their fields of interest, fostering personal growth and professional development.
Through strategic community partnerships, WILC is dedicated to enhancing educational accessibility and support for learners underserved communities, empowering families with the tools to advocate for their children, and fostering a stronger, more inclusive local community where every learner is valued and supported. By leveraging shared expertise and resources, these partnerships create lasting change, ensuring that all learners, regardless of identity or background, have the opportunity to thrive. Together, we are building a future where education and support are truly inclusive, affirming, and accessible to all.
Community Resource
Community Resources are organizations, services, or individuals that provide valuable support, information, or opportunities that our families and learners can access independently. These are not formal partners of our organization but are trusted recommendations we make available to help our community meet a variety of needs.
Unlike Community Partners—who engage in ongoing, reciprocal collaboration—Community Resources function more like a library or guide. We highlight them so families know where to turn when seeking specialized services, but our organization does not directly coordinate with these providers on a regular basis.

Characteristics of a Community Resource
-
Informational: They provide knowledge, guidance, or referrals (e.g., parent advocacy groups, legal aid).
-
Service-Oriented: They offer direct services that may benefit our community (e.g., therapists, evaluators, tutors, healthcare providers).
-
Supportive but Independent: Families access these resources on their own.
-
Aligned but not Reciprocal: While they may share values with our mission, they are not involved in shared programming and do not have a formal collaboration with us.
Examples of Community Resources
-
Local occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists who accept ESA+ funds.
-
Advocacy groups that provide free legal or IEP support for families.
-
Tutoring centers or micro-schools that specialize in certain subjects.
-
Nonprofit organizations offering food security, housing support, or social services.
Local businesses or service providers that offer discounts or accommodations for neurodivergent or disabled youth.
